-The friendly and helpful staff, and the nice decor were high points for our dinner. The wine was good. The food however, was a major disappointment. The kitchen's reach definitely exceeds its grasp. All the menu items attempted something clever and, while there were a couple hits (the mustard fruit and veal), most of food was simply average. I also had one bite of tuna that reminded me of the supermarket sushi bar. A flashy waste of money.

-As a huge fan of Lupa, i was very eager to try Bar Milano. Unfortunately it does not compare to Lupa in any way. The atmosphere feels pretentious in a kind of corporate way, the decor is all very grey. The menu had concoctions that just seemed like the chef was trying too hard to be different, and came up with things that really weren't all that enticing.

-I could almost tolerate the horrible $24 dollar margarita but no air conditioning and all the lights on at 5 o'clock on the hottest day of the year was a deal breaker. Went across the street to Fitzgeralds for a cold beer in blissfull coolness and with a much more pleasant staff. So much for a hot spot!

-All the makings of a classic. The downside - location. But the food is consistently good, service is top-notch and the cocktail menu is superb. I'm a big fan of all the pastas. The entrees are spot-on, especially the fried rabbit. Dining at the bar area is preferred over the dining room since it does get a little stuffy.

-It fills a definite need for an upscale restaurant in this neighborhood and the proof is the wait to get a seat at any time fantastic service

AGO Reviewed
-Went with friends for brunch on Sunday. The interior/decor throughout was done well to fit into the Tribeca area - looks like an upscale renovation of an old warehouse/building - you wouldn't know that only a few years ago it was just a parking lot! I had the best rendition of eggs benedict - probably ever. The entire staff was wonderful, pleasent and attentive. We will come back for dinner.

-I have eaten here twice, it was great both times. the space is beautiful and i did not find it noisy at all. price quoted includes a lot of wine (1 bottle & two glasses) and 5 desserts.

-I love Ago in South Beach so I couldn't wait for the one in NYC to open being a local... I told my friends for weeks how great the food was etc.. We finally go and the highly intoxicated hostesses rudely greeted us and made us wait for an hr even though we had reservations! The food wasn't that great and I felt bad for my guests but, I will say our server was very attentive. I will not be going back.

-New York has an abundance of very good Italian restaurants, and many hot spots serving great food and nice service. I've dined here twice and see no reason to return: completely forgetful, unconcerned service and food that was bland and unimaginative.
